This past weekend our boys played against a very good Forest Hill team....probably the best team in our division. And we simply out played them. We dominated the offensive flow of the game, creating many scoring oppurtunites while our defense and goalie play held strong.
The end result was a 1-0 loss on an unfortunate penalty kick with little time remaining in the game. There are so many positives and so few negative to take from this game. If we continue to play this way the rest of the season we shouldn't lose another game. Our passing came to life this weekend, really working the through ball and switching fields effectively. The boys worked the middle of the field all day, maybe too much for our strengths. We have so much speed on the outside that i'd like to see our wings try to spread the field a bit more instead of passing back into the middle quite so much. It was effective, but our boys seem to shoot better from the corners them from the center right now.
Overall, this was a great game....a fabulous game. I couldn't be happier with how hard our boys played. The boys new they played a great a game and were smiling ear to ear even in defeat. This game should prove to be the game that let's the boys know just how good they can be and how good we expect them to be.
On a side note, it was great seeing the parents so excited and involved in the game. Every parent had a moment or two to cheer about their child and at the same time get caught up in the team play as well. Well Done Parents!!
