In our last tournament as a U-11 team seven of our boys participated in their first ever sand soccer event. The Sand Duels Tournamnet on the beach at Ocean City, MD.
The boys had a great time and performed well. We won two out of our three games and missed the finals by one point in a tie-breaker scenario to one of the teams that we had beaten.
Our first game got off to a slow start for us and the boys struggled a bit to get their sand legs under them. Once they got through the first half they completely dominated the other team holding them to only one shot to our nine....unforturnately we gave up three in the first half and we hit the post four or five times with our shots.
In our second game we took control from the get go and took 1-0 score into the half. We ended the game with a 2-1 win against a very tough opponent.
The third game was quite as close. We won 3-0 and it could have been much worse. The ref swallowed his whistle during this game and allowed the game to get a little out of hand at times.
All in all it was a great time and a good way to get the boys ready for Try Outs this week.
I look forward to another summer of soccer and getting ready for the new season.
