We are pleased to introduce the logo that will be associated with the GHSC Columbus Day Soccer Tournament for 2006. The design was created by Meg Cotton, art student at Harford Community College. For the 3rd consecutive year the Tournament Committee has enlisted the talented students at HCC through this design competition. There were 28 designs submitted for 2006 tournament. Meg was a former elementary teacher before returning to the art and design curriculum at HCC.She has been rewarded with $500 that she can apply toward her continuing education in art. Congratulations Meg.

The Greater Harford Soccer Club, Inc. is pleased to invite you to its fall tournament, October 7th & 8th, 2006 in Bel Air, Maryland. This event is designed to provide good competition for club teams, both boys and girls. The tournament will be played on venues in the Bel Air vicinity.
COMPETITION
Only USSF affiliates (USYSA, SAY and US SOCCER), club teams or USYSA travel teams are accepted - no select or tournament teams. Guest players who are registered with their respective state/provincial or national association are allowed, to a maximum of three per team. All teams are guaranteed a minimum of three games.
Teams will be selected partially on a geographical basis to provide competition between out of state teams and our local Maryland teams. However, due to the last several year’s tournament popularity we will limit participation to a total of no more than 170 teams. In past years several age groups’ registration were closed early due to the popularity and tournament limitations. Please register early to ensure eligibility.

The Tournament Committee reserves the right to combine age groups if necessary. Under 9 and 10 teams will play 7 V 7 on a "downsized field". All games are scheduled for three USSF certified officials.
AWARDS
Individual player awards will be made to each member of both first and second place teams in each division! In addition, all players and coaches will be given a special tournament patch/pin. You are requested to exchange club patches with competing teams.
SANCTION
This tournament is sanctioned by the USYSA and will be played under the jurisdiction of the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA). All teams must have a notarized medical release form for each player. USYSA requirements regarding player passes, travel procedures and use of the USSF certified officials will apply.

HOW TO APPLY
You must apply and submit your tournament entry fee online at our web site, to be considered for acceptance. No mail in applications will be accepted. However, last year’s credits and this year’s payment may b mailed. We will begin accepting application 1 July 2006 and will close on 31 August 2006. Application after 31 August 2006 will be placed on a "pending acceptance" and will be accepted on an as needed basis. An entry fee of (www.ghsc.info). $500.00 for U 11 or older and $425.00 for ages U 9 & 10 teams must be made online through the GHSC web site via a credit card charge or a bank checking account draft. We will utilize a secure online payment system for all payments. You will be given instruction for paying upon completing your on line application. Information on application status for all teams will be available on the web site. Please visit the web site frequently for changes that occur from time to time.
Notification of acceptance or rejection will be posted on the Tournament web site on or before 8 September 2006. Those teams not accepted will receive a full refund via their credit card or bank account. The registration fee is forfeited if you do not play or if you withdraw after acceptance is posted to the web site. Please take not if you’re an older team, SAT test are usually scheduled the AM of Saturday games. Either have players arrange to take the examination at Bel Air High School or a schedule the examination for a different weekend. SAT and High School Home Comings have presented schedule problems in the past. All special scheduling requests received after August 31, 2006 will require a non refundable $50.00 fee for consideration.
FIELD DIRECTIONS
2 field complexes will be used for the Columbus Day Tournament, The Polo Grounds in Jarrettsville and the Forest Hill Rec Complex off of Rt. 24 in Forest Hill. Directions to these fields are:
Polo Grounds (Ladew and Weber Fields): From exit 74 off of Rt. 95, take Rt. 152 North toward Fallston. Follow Rt. 152 approximately 9 miles. Entrance to the fields is on the left.
Forest Hill Rec. Complex: Beltway Exit 33 (I-95 North). Follow I-95 North to Exit 77B (Route 24 West) toward Bel Air. Follow Route 24 to end where it merges into the Bel Air By-Pass. Follow Bel Air By-Pass approximately one mile to Route 24 North exit (Forest Hill/Rocks). Once on Route 24, follow past 3rd traffic light and turn left into the complex (entrance will be across from Klein’s Supermarket). Field will be on the left.
REGISTRATION
Each team coach, manager, or representative will be required to register on the evening of Friday October 6, 2006. Registration will take place at the Wingate Inn from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Wingate is 1/2 mile south of Rt. 95 off of exit 80 in Riverside. Teams must present a copy of official team roster, player cards, and notarized medical releases. Tournament balls, patches, team packets, and t-shirt pre-orders will be passed out at this time. No acceptance package or mailings will be made.
